Scott Eastland was appointed President of Aran Insurance Underwriters at the time of the company’s creation in May 2010. In his role at President of Aran Insurance Underwriters, Scott is responsible for providing the firm’s strategic direction and ensuring profitability on both an operational as well as an underwriting basis.

Scott has 25 years of experience in the employee-benefits industry, the last 23 of which have been in the underwriting field. His broad underwriting background includes underwriting HMO coverage on both a staff model and fee-for-service basis, underwriting medical stop-loss coverage, developing pricing and operational underwriting manuals, and 19 years of experience managing underwriting departments.

Scott received his M.B.A. from Arizona State University in 1999 where he was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society. He also holds a B.A. in finance from the University of North Dakota. He is a Fellow with the Life Management Institute and an Associate with the Health Insurance Association of America.

Mark Routson has over 23 years of health insurance underwriting experience in the fully insured, minimum premium, and self-funded medical stop-loss markets and has held various management-level positions. As Vice President of Underwriting for Aran Insurance Underwriters, he is responsible for all underwriting functions and for overseeing the underwriting and data-entry staff.

Prior to joining Aran Insurance Underwriters in 2010, Mark held the position of Director of Underwriting for a nationally recognized MGU, where he and Scott Eastland helped to launch the Southwest Division in 2005. Since entering the stop-loss industry in 1999, Mark has consistently generated significant underwriting profits each year. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration at Ohio University in 1993.
